Overview

Alloy Wheel Refurbishing, done properly,
done on your driveway.

A clear explanation of what alloy refurbishing covers, who it suits, when to book it, and why the choice of technician matters more than the price on a leaflet.

What it is

Alloy wheel refurbishment is a full strip-and-refinish process, old lacquer and paint removed, corrosion cut back and treated, then primed, colour-coated and cleared to a hard-wearing finish. It differs from a spot kerb repair (which we also offer) in that the whole wheel face is refinished for a uniform result.

Who it's for

Any driver with kerbed, corroded, faded or tired-looking wheels, or anyone wanting a colour change from silver to anthracite, gunmetal, black or a bespoke colour. Also fleets and dealerships preparing vehicles for sale.

When you need it

Book a full refurb when several wheels are showing damage, when corrosion is visible around the rim edge or bolt holes, or when you want a colour change. Single-wheel kerb repairs are booked as a SMART / alloy-scuff job.

Why it matters

A proper refurbishment addresses the root cause, corrosion under the lacquer, rather than just covering it. Done well, the finish lasts for years. Done cheaply, the wheels look worse than they did before within a season.

Why it can't wait

What happens when
alloy refurbishing are ignored.

Alloys are one of the most-visible parts of a car, and one of the fastest to age when a refurbishment is skipped or done badly. Here's why leaving them, or trusting them to a cheap job, tends to cost more overall.

White-worm corrosion under failing lacquer spreads under sound paint on the same wheel, the longer you leave it, the deeper the eventual cut back to clean aluminium needs to be.

Kerbed edges expose bare aluminium which then corrodes into the rim, eventually causing slow tyre pressure loss and requiring more aggressive repair.

'Silver paint' repairs on diamond cut or intricate spoke designs never match the original finish, and they hide underlying corrosion.

Cheap refurb jobs skip the corrosion prep and re-lacquer directly over failing paint, the finish then lifts and whitens within months.

Tired wheels take significant value off a trade-in or lease return, often more than the cost of a proper refurbishment.

Our process

How a alloy refurbishing
job actually runs.

A clear, repeatable process for every job, so you know exactly what happens and when, from the moment you send us photos to the moment we hand the vehicle back.

01

Quote

Send photos of each wheel plus a wider shot of the vehicle and your registration. We identify the wheel design and finish, and quote per wheel for a firm fixed price.

02

Removal & strip

Wheels are removed and stripped of old lacquer and paint. Corrosion is cut back to clean aluminium | the single most important step in a durable refinish.

03

Prep & priming

Kerb damage is filled and sanded back to profile. The wheel is degreased, etch-primed, and prepared for base coat.

04

Colour coat & clear

Colour is applied | factory silver, anthracite, gunmetal, satin black, gloss black, or a bespoke colour of your choice | followed by 2K clearcoat and full cure.

05

Refit, balance & sign-off

Wheels are refitted, tyre pressures reset (including TPMS where fitted), and torqued to specification. You inspect the finished set before sign-off.

when you book with us.

Corrosion actually removed

Underlying corrosion is cut back to clean aluminium before recoating | the difference between a repair that lasts and one that lifts within a year.

Colour change available

Change from factory silver to anthracite, gunmetal, satin or gloss black | or a bespoke colour to match your vehicle.

Hard-wearing 2K clearcoat

Professional-grade clearcoat that stands up to Scottish weather and brake dust.

Complete on-site

TPMS handled correctly

Sensors removed, refitted and retorqued. Batteries near end-of-life flagged for you to replace.

Lifetime workmanship

Backed for as long as you own the vehicle (rust excluded).

Depth of service

The detail behind
the finish.

There are important variations in alloy work, and choosing the right one saves you money and gives a longer-lasting result.

Full refurbishment vs SMART alloy repair

A full refurb is the right choice when several wheels are affected, corrosion is present under the lacquer, or you want a colour change. Single kerb scuffs on an otherwise-good wheel are cheaper as a SMART repair.

Diamond cut wheels

Machined-face wheels need a lathe and are covered by our separate diamond cut service. A full painted refurb of a diamond cut wheel is possible where the machined face is beyond further cuts.

Colour options

Factory silver, anthracite, gunmetal, satin black, gloss black, matt finishes and bespoke colours. Two-tone finishes (contrasting outer rim vs spokes) are available on suitable designs.

Corrosion treatment

White-worm corrosion is cut back to clean aluminium, treated and primed before base coat. Skipping this step is the single most common reason cheap refurb jobs fail.

TPMS & tyre safety

Wheels equipped with tyre-pressure sensors are stripped, refurbished and refitted with correct sensor torque. Tyres are refitted and pressures reset.

Fleet & dealership work

Dealership vehicles booked around forecourt hours. Fleet accounts can batch several vehicles into a single visit.
