Overview
Paint Repairs, done properly,
done on your driveway.
A clear explanation of what paint repairs covers, who it suits, when to book it, and why the choice of technician matters more than the price on a leaflet.
What it is
Paint repair covers everything from single stone chips through blended panel refinishing to fixing previous poor-quality paintwork. Every job uses 2K basecoats and clearcoats mixed to your vehicle's colour code and blended into adjacent panels for an invisible finish.
Who it's for
Anyone with paint that is chipped, scratched, faded, blistering, mis-matched from an earlier repair, or lifting around a repair area, plus insurers, fleets and dealerships preparing higher-value vehicles.
When you need it
As soon as the paint is compromised. Any bare metal exposed to Scottish weather will start to corrode within weeks, and that corrosion then travels under sound paint on the same panel.
Why it matters
A proper paint repair blends into the surrounding paint so the eye reads it as untouched. Done badly, you see a colour patch, orange-peel texture or lifting lacquer within months, and the only fix at that point is a full panel respray.
Why it can't wait
What happens when
paint repairs are ignored.
Cosmetic paint damage is easy to shrug off, but the underlying substrate rarely stays healthy for long. Here's what changes when it's left.
Chipped paint exposes primer or bare metal, corrosion starts within weeks in Scottish salt-and-rain conditions and spreads under adjacent sound paint.
Failing lacquer (whitened, peeling clearcoat) accelerates rapidly under UV, a small patch can consume an entire panel in a single summer.
Cheap touch-up sticks and DIY blending pens rarely match a modern metallic and often bake pigment into the surrounding lacquer, leaving a permanent shadow.
Bodyshop respray jobs done cheaply produce a colour mismatch and lifting lacquer within months, costing more than an IMI-certified repair would have from the start.
Our process
How a paint repair
job actually runs.
A clear, repeatable process for every job, so you know exactly what happens and when, from the moment you send us photos to the moment we hand the vehicle back.
Quote
Send photos and your registration. We identify colour code and repair area, then send you a firm fixed price.
Substrate prep
The damaged area is cleaned, sanded back to a stable edge, and where needed treated for corrosion before primer is applied.
Colour match
Paint is mixed on-site to your vehicle's colour code, then verified against a test card and, where needed, tuned to your car's actual panel colour before it touches the vehicle.
Base, clear, blend
Base and clear coats are applied in controlled passes and blended into adjacent panels for an invisible edge. Force-dried and cured to a hard, protective finish.
Compound & sign-off
Once fully cured the repair is compounded and polished to match the surrounding gloss level, then inspected with you before sign-off.

Benefits
What you actually get
when you book with us.
Invisible repair
Correctly matched and blended, the repair reads as original factory paint under normal daylight.
Long-lasting finish
2K clearcoat and professional-grade primers give a repair that lasts as long as the panel itself, not one that lifts within a year.
Corrosion protected
The substrate is properly treated and primed before base coat | not just covered over.
Same-day mobile service
Most single-panel repairs are completed on-site in a single visit.
Preserved resale value
Panels that read as original hold significantly more value than obviously-repaired ones.
Lifetime guarantee
Workmanship is covered for as long as you own the vehicle (rust excluded).
Depth of service
The detail behind
the finish.
Paint repair is a craft, the finish depends on preparation, colour-matching skill, and cure discipline. Here's how we approach each variation of the job.
Stone chip repair
Chips are cleaned, feathered, primed, base-coated and cleared, then blended into the surrounding area so no touch-up mark is visible.
Scratch refinishing
Scratches deeper than the clearcoat are refinished the same way as a stone chip. Surface-only scratches are polished out where safe to do so.
Fading & clearcoat failure
Lifting or peeling lacquer is sanded back to sound clearcoat, primed as needed, then re-cleared and blended into surrounding panels. Sun-faded panels are colour-tuned against the actual car, not the factory code.
Fixing previous poor repairs
Bad prior repairs (colour mis-match, orange peel, lifting lacquer) are stripped back to sound substrate and rebuilt from the primer up, the only reliable long-term fix.
Colour codes & tri-coat finishes
Metallic, pearlescent and tri-coat paints are mixed on-site and blended into adjacent panels. Tri-coats require an intermediate ground coat plus a pearl coat and are priced accordingly.
Insurance, fleet & dealership work
We invoice insurers directly for authorised work, batch-repair fleet vehicles on a single visit, and work around dealership forecourt hours.
